Melissa

Unlike most artists, unfortunately Melissa didn't grow up with a paintbrush in her hand. Raised by parents who encouraged her imagination, Melissa has always created fantasy worlds and stories in her head. However, it wasn't until 2006 that she discovered fantasy art at a county fair, and began to create her own paintings. While she began by painting fairies and animals, black-winged angels have become her favorite, and often tell a deeper story.

A self-taught artist, Melissa spends her days wrapped up in her own fantasy worlds as much as possible, which usually consists of day-dreaming about (and working on!) her next paintings. One of her favorite things to do is show her art at fairs and festivals, where she meets a lot of wonderful people!

While she primarily creates digital paintings in Photoshop and Painter, Melissa also loves to use watercolors, acrylics, and other traditional media. Upcoming projects include a series of gothic angels and a series of whimsical fairies.

Besides painting, Melissa loves to read and write. She is also finishing her Master's in Library and Information Science, which is where she learned to hand-code her own website! Her "spare" time is spent with her ever-supportive fiance and their three wacky pets-- Augustus the Demon Bunny, Strider (a dog in a cat's body), and sweet Savannah (who has an unusual penchant for q-tips). Melissa is very grateful for the support of her fiance, family, and in-laws as she attempts to prove that dreams really do come true.
